How do I get Thicker Eyelashes?

There are a few different ways to get thicker eyelashes, or at least to get the appearance of having eyelashes that are thick. First, however, it may be a good idea to visit a dermatologist or physician to determine whether an illness or vitamin deficiency could be causing your eyelashes to become thinner. A diet lacking in protein or vitamins could be the cause. If you simply have thin eyelashes, however, a dermatologist may be able to prescribe a treatment that can help you to grow thicker eyelashes.

This treatment is only available through a prescription, and is applied to the lash line every day to encourage lash growth. There are some potential side effects with this treatment, however, so be sure to thoroughly understand any potential risks before using the products. Aside from receiving treatment from a dermatologist, the best way to get thicker eyelashes is through the use of cosmetic products.

Thickening mascara is designed to give users the appearance of thicker eyelashes. Choose mascara in a dark shade, such as black or dark brown, and be sure to apply it near the lash line when you are applying it to the lashes. A thicker lash line is one of the best ways to make eyelashes look thicker; one might also choose to use eyeliner as well for a similar effect. Then, when applying mascara, gently wiggle the mascara wand from side to side on the eyelashes to fully coat them with mascara. An eyelash comb may help to separate them.

Lengthening mascara can also help eyelashes to look longer and thicker. Avoid applying eyeliner on the lower lash line to make the upper lash line look even more noticeable; a thin coat of mascara may look nice, but in general, you want the attention to be drawn to the upper lash line. Some mascara also includes nutrients designed to help eyelashes grow thicker. These have not yet been proven to be effective, but it is unlikely that they would do any harm.

Aside from using cosmetic products to get the appearance of thicker eyelashes, another option is to use false eyelashes. These may be available in individual eyelashes or in sets, and are glued to the eyelids, left on for the day, and removed at the end of the day. No matter what type of products are applied to the eyes, be sure to gently remove them at the end of the day with makeup remover to prevent irritation or infection in the eyes.
