What is the Best Natural Pain Relief?

Pain can be caused by a number of things including injury, illness, arthritis, muscle strain, and headaches, among many others. If pain occurs after an injury and does not improve within a reasonable amount of time, it is a good idea to visit a doctor to rule out a broken bone or other serious injury. Otherwise, there are a few options for natural pain relief that may help to treat persistent pain.

Heat and cold can both be used for natural pain relief. Sore muscles often respond well to heat, which can help relax them and ease tension and cramps. Try using a heating pad or taking a warm bath or shower. For injuries where muscles are swollen, applying an ice pack for approximately ten minutes at a time can help to reduce the swelling and relieve some of the pain.

Though it may seem counter-intuitive, some people find that exercise can be a great source of natural pain relief. Of course, it is not a good idea to exercise an injury, but getting outside and going for a walk, or spending some time swimming in a pool can help to relieve some kinds of pain. Slowly increase the intensity of the exercise over time, and ask a doctor for recommendations or guidance. Exercise can help to increase the range of motion in the joints, which can be especially beneficial to those who are suffering from arthritis.

Some people find that yoga and meditation can be helpful practices for natural pain relief. Meditation can also help to relieve stress and tension, which can contribute to headaches and body pain. Similar to meditation, practicing mind-body techniques such as biofeedback to help relieve pain may also make a difference. There are many books available on these topics, or a practitioner can provide instructions.

Other people can help with natural pain relief as well. Acupuncture, chiropractic care, and massage are all sources of natural pain relief that can be very effective. Some people try a number of different avenues of pain relief before finding one that works, but it is often possible to reduce or eliminate pain to the point that pain medication is no longer needed. Most of these natural pain relief techniques help the body to release endorphins, which boosts mood as well as relieving pain. Remember to listen to the body's needs and to visit a doctor if the pain worsens or becomes unbearable.

According to a recent survey performed, it was determined that 46% of women and 37% of men experience pain on a daily basis. The individuals suffering from pain were asked what they had tried as far as “natural methods of pain relief”. Many of them said that they had tried the entire over the counter pain medications and a few different prescription medications.

This is what surprised me: Many of them said that they had found natural relief from something called Elmore Oil. I had never even heard of it but several people seemed to think it was effective.

Sometimes, when people hear the term “natural pain relief”, they turn their heads. It just doesn’t seem that “natural products” could heal some types of pain.

Natural pain relief can be achieved. A lot of it depends on what type of pain you are having and what caused the pain in the first place. Many people who are living with chronic pain have decreased their pain level with natural solutions.

As the article stated, acupuncture is being used much more often now. It is considered a type of healing with the use of medicinal needles being inserted at key points on your body.
