Oregano essential oil has the scientific name Oreganum vulgare and consists of oil extracted from fresh oregano leaves through steam distillation. The use of this oil dates back to ancient Greece, and it currently comes primarily from Spain. This essential oil contains antibacterial and disinfectant properties and can be used as a useful analgesic. Many essential oil blends incorporate this oil for its medicinal effects.

One common use for oregano essential oil is to utilize its antibacterial and antiseptic properties for protection. The oil provides protection from various conditions caused by bacteria, including skin infections, sores, cholera, typhoid, urinary tract infections and colon infections. My great grandmother lived over a hundred and she loved herbs. Whenever she had an upset stomach from a cold or a stomach bug, she would drink a few drops of oregano essential oil mixed with sugar and water. I think it was her way of killing the stomach bugs naturally.

It's probably dangerous to do that nowadays, unless the oregano oil is very pure and non-toxic. I tried this remedy once and it was the worst thing I've ever tasted. I also mixed it with sugar, but it was still very strong and bitter. I had to have a glass of milk afterward.

@SarahGen-- I tried it but it didn't make a difference. I might not have used it correctly though. I only used it for a week, I might have needed to use it for a longer period of time to see results.

But the general idea is that since oregano has anti-fungal affects, it can remove warts if you apply the oil right on top of the wart every day. But you have to dilute the oil with a carrier oil first because oregano essential oil is very strong. It can irritate your skin.

Has anyone tried oregano essential oil for the treatment of warts? I've heard that it works.
