People who work in human resources deal with the personnel of their company. They are often one of the first points of contact a person has with a company when seeking employment. Smaller companies may just have a manager of human resources and maybe one or two clerks. Larger companies, however, often have a multitude of other human resources manager jobs, including a benefits manager, an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) manager, a manager of recruitment and a work/life manager. Most applicants can become qualified for these positions by obtaining a bachelor's in human resources from an accredited university, though some companies may require additional certification.

The manager of human resources manages the entire department in a company. These professionals make sure that customer service is being maintained, as the employees they manage are providing a service to the other employees in the company. They also manage the budget for employees, and create reports for the company to show what kinds of services have been offered.

Another of the human resources manager jobs is the manager of benefits. People working in this area of a human resource department make sure that the company's benefit policies are in line with the local and national laws. They often inform new employees of the benefits the company offers, answer questions that may arise, settle any benefit disputes employees may raise, and hold information sessions to let employees know of any new benefits or changes to existing benefits.

The EEO manager is one of the human resources manager jobs that may only be available in countries with equal employment rights laws, such as the United States. This manager ensures that the company is following the local, regional and national laws regarding equal employment opportunities. They make sure that all the functions of the human resources department adhere to these laws as well. The EEO manager typically investigates any complaints of discrimination that an employee might have. They may also provide training to employees about diversity and inclusion.

Human resource people who work as recruitment managers work to find candidates to fill positions in the company. They help fill positions by posting current job openings in print and online. They usually collect resumes and applications to create a pool of qualified applicants for company jobs as well. Some recruiters specialize with a particular job field, so larger companies might have more than one recruiter and assign them to different departments.

More and more companies have taken into account that they can take a more active role in assisting employees with barriers that may cause them to be late or absent. Not all companies have these human resources manager jobs, but the work life manager helps employees come up with solutions that may assist them in their personal lives, such as finding affordable child care, arranging transportation and organizing care for elderly parents.
