A body sculpting center is a medical office that specializes in cosmetic surgery. The center may have only one head doctor or a number of doctors, all specializing in different kinds of cosmetic surgery. The menu of surgical procedures performed at a body sculpting center is usually divided up by regions of the body. The procedures commonly available are performed on the face, breasts, buttocks, stomach, and skin. Some centers also offer procedures that involve the genitals.
For each region of the body, there are numerous types of treatments that are available. It is common, for example, for a body sculpting center to offer a dozen or more procedures that have only to do with the face. Surgical procedures involving the face often include rhinoplasty, a surgery which changes the shape and contours of the nose; blepharoplasty, a surgery which tightens and lifts the eyelids and skin around the eyes; and otoplasty, also referred to as "ear pinning," a surgery that tucks the ears closer to the sides of the head.
There are also facial surgeries that have to deal with much larger sections of the head and neck. A facelift, for example, is a surgery that lifts and tightens all of the skin on the face. A necklift is a similar procedure which targets the skin on the neck and the underside of the chin.
A body sculpting center might also offer non-surgical procedures for the face. These procedures include chemical peels and injections of fillers such as collagen or fat taken from another part of the body. Injections may be used to counteract sagging or wrinkles on the forehead, around the mouth, or in the lips.
The most common surgical procedures having to do with the breasts are breast augmentation, breast reduction, and breast lifts. Breast augmentation is a procedure during which implants are placed inside of the breasts to make them look larger. During a breast reduction procedure, tissue is removed from the breasts to make them smaller. A breast lift is simply a procedure which lifts and tightens the skin on and around the breasts, making them sit higher on the chest.
Depending on the scope and focus of a body sculpting center, the menu of procedures will vary. While some centers offer procedures such as labia reduction and penile implants, others do not offer any procedures having to do with the genitalia. Most centers have websites that detail the exact surgeries and treatments offered.
