There are several Korean ginseng benefits that one can enjoy from using this particular herb. The use of Korean ginseng benefits patients by calming their emotions and promoting increased energy. Many traditional Chinese practitioners believe that the use of Korean ginseng can help boost a person's capability to handle daily stress as well as increase his endurance. This herb has been considered as an adaptogen because of these actions in the body and because it does not have any side effects.

Korean ginseng, also referred to as Panax ginseng, contains phytochemicals believed to be powerful alternative medicines for dealing with emotional and physical stresses. Its thin and long root hairs have been used in Chinese medicine for more than 3,000 years. The Korean ginseng plant is said to live for 100 years and its roots resemble the body of a man. This herb is available in the market as a powder extract, as dried and cut roots, or in liquid form.

It contains a complex mixture of nitrogenous compounds and carbohydrates called ginsenosides. Ginsenosides are said to help increase protein activities in the brain. They also regulate blood circulation in the brain, improving memory and mental ability. Additionally, Korean ginseng benefits many elderly people by enhancing their arithmetic skills and abstract thinking.

Several studies also noted the health benefits of Korean ginseng in lowering blood sugar and cholesterol levels in the body. It is also used in preventing flu and cold problems. Korean ginseng benefits many patients when taken during the start of cold or flu infections as it may lessen the severity of these conditions. Some oncologists, doctors who manage cancer patients, may incorporate Korean ginseng to enhance some treatment procedures.

Many sports enthusiasts and body builders frequently use Korean ginseng as it contains compounds similar to anabolic steroids. Some men apply it externally in their genitalia and claim that it treats their erectile dysfunction and improves their fertility by increasing their sperm count. This however, is yet to be proven by further clinical research.

Studies with animal and human subjects have shown that Korean ginseng benefits include the relaxation of the lung muscles, thus making it helpful in patients with asthma and other lung conditions. It may also offer relief from post-menopausal symptoms as well as from the effects of alcohol intoxication. Korean ginseng may also help some patients by strengthening their gastrointestinal systems and facilitating liver regeneration.

I drink Korean ginseng tea regularly, in place of energy drinks and coffee. Korean ginseng gives me a lot of energy without negative side effects. Coffee and energy drinks work but they give me jitters and make me moody after some time. This never happens with Korean ginseng. I just feel very good. I have energy and concentration and I can keep working. I don't know why more people don't take advantage of ginseng.

@fify-- Ginseng has many benefits and it may help alleviate some of the symptoms of hypothyroidism like fatigue and depression. But I don't think that any herb, including ginseng, should be used as the sole treatment for a health condition.

As beneficial as ginseng root is, there are no conclusive studies that show that it can treat any health disorder. It is meant to be a supplement to promote health, not a medication. In some cases, it's not safe to take herbal supplements like ginseng because of the interaction with other medications.

I think you should speak to your doctor and also an expert on herbs about this.
