How do I get Menstrual Cramp Relief?

Menstrual cramps are a problem for many women. This has resulted in a great deal of attention being focused on this area. If you need to get menstrual cramp relief, there are numerous options you can try, such as pain relievers, birth control, or sex.

The severity of menstrual cramps can greatly vary. You may just have mild cramps or your pain may keep you from performing your normal daily activities. Every solution will not work for every woman. If you try to get relief in one way and it does not work, do not hesitate to try something else. If it seems that you have exhausted all options and the cramps are still unbearable, it usually is recommended that you go to the doctor.

Some women are able to get menstrual cramp relief from over-the-counter (OTC) medications. General pain relievers such as ibuprofen or aspirin may take away your pain. You can also try a medication which is designed specifically for menstrual symptoms, such as Midol. You may be one of those women who do not gain relief from any OTC medication. If so, a doctor may be able to prescribe something stronger.

Another medicinal option is oral contraceptives. Many women have found that taking birth control pills helps them to get menstrual cramp relief. If you do not want to get pregnant, this is something that you may want to try.

Heat can be an effective way to get menstrual cramp relief. If you have a hot water bottle or a heating pad, you may be able to relieve the pain by placing either of those items on your abdomen or lower back. This is something that can be discreetly done even while you are working if you have a desk job.

You may also be able to get menstrual cramp relief by taking a hot bath if you do not have a hot water bottle or heating pad. There are some things that you can add to your bath water that may increase your chances of success. These include lavender, sage, and rose oils.

There are other natural remedies that may be helpful. Primrose Evening Oil is an herbal supplement that has a reputation for easing menstrual symptoms. Black Cohosh and Pycnogenol are two other options that some women find helpful.

Women and their partners have mixed opinions about intercourse during the menstrual period. It has been noted, however, that having sex and orgasms can relieve menstrual cramps. If you and your partner are open to this idea, it could work for you.
