Double buckle boots are simply boots that are embellished with two buckles. These boots can be made of a variety of fabrics, including leather, suede and sherling, and synthetic materials. Double-buckle boots are made for men, women, and children and are available through brick and mortar stores as well as from online retailers and catalogs.

Any pair of boots which has two buckles can be called a double-buckle boot. In some cases, the buckles are actually functional. They may serve to fasten the boot closed or simply to tighten the shaft for a better fit. More often, the buckles are simply decorative. Typically, the buckles are placed on the outside of the shaft or at the ankle.

Material that is suitable for making shoes can be used to make double buckle boots. Usually, a leather, suede, or faux leather material is used, but some double-buckle boots made from formal materials like satin and velvet. Of course, boots made from sturdier materials are more durable.

Some boots are made for specific activities. For instance, double-buckle snow boots are usually made from a waterproof fabric and have a thick rubber sole. Motorcycle double buckle boots are commonly mid-calf to knee length, made from black leather, and have a chunky sole with thick treads. Equestrian double-buckle boots are made for horseback riding, and typically have a sleek, two-toned design with both dark and light leather.

There are both new and vintage double-buckle boots. Vintage double-buckle boots may simply be older shoes designed for the general public, but during some periods, members of the military were issued double-buckle boots. Original vintage clothing is highly collectible, especially military paraphernalia, and it can be quite expensive.

The cost of double-buckle boots varies widely. Some trendy boots, made from synthetic materials by mass market companies, are inexpensive. Usually, the construction is of lower quality than that of more expensive boots, and there is little support in the footbed for the arch.

Designer boots can cost 10 or 20 times the amount of a mass-market pair of boots. The quality is typically better, but is not always. With designer boots, the brand name itself is the valuable product, so the boots themselves may not be well made.

Usually, a well made pair of double-buckle boots is more expensive than the trendy, mass- market brand but less expensive than designer brands. Quality boots are often made from natural fabrics, with proper support for the arch, and have tight, even stitches designed to withstand several years of wear.
