How do I Choose the Best Hookless Shower Curtain?

Alicia Sparks

The best hookless shower curtain will be the one that’s easiest to use, appeals most to you and your bathroom décor, and best fits your shower opening and your budget. To meet these criteria, you’ll need to spend some time comparing different styles of hookless curtains. Consider the colors, patterns, and designs that will complement your existing bathroom decorations or help you completely redesign your room. Measure both the height and width of your shower opening, as well as the curtain rod itself if it’s designed to curve out. Shop with several stores, both online and off, and compare prices before choosing the best curtain for your bathroom.

Browse the various different styles before you choose your hookless shower curtain. Some of these types of shower curtains, like the tab top shower curtain, are designed with fabric loops that you can easily slide your shower curtain rod through. Others are made with ties, often called tie top shower curtains, meant for you to tie on your curtain rod. Another simple kind of hookless shower curtain is made with holes near the top of the curtain that are usually lined with metal or some other sturdy material and meant for you to weave your curtain rod through. Just be sure to look for a hookless shower curtain liner, too, if the curtain style you choose requires one.

Make sure the hookless shower curtain you choose is the right size for your shower opening. When hanging a shower curtain, it should drape low enough to cover the bathtub lip. Some people prefer their shower curtains hang almost or completely to the floor. Make sure the shower curtain is wide enough to stretch the width of the curtain rod. If you have a curved shower curtain rod, measure the rod itself and not the shower opening.

Of course, you’ll probably want the color of your hookless shower curtain to correspond to your bathroom’s décor. You might find a curtain that matches or complements the decorations currently in your bathroom. Consider taking samples of your bathroom’s wallpaper or paint, or even pieces of a rug or curtain, to compare as you shop. On the other hand, you might find a curtain that inspires a new look for your bathroom. When it comes to choosing a shower curtain, there are just as many colors, designs, and patterns out there as there are shower curtains themselves.

Generally, hookless shower curtains are priced comparably to other kinds of shower curtains. Higher or lower prices are usually determined by the quality of the curtain itself, and not how it hooks or attaches to the rod. In order to get the best hookless shower curtain for a price that’s within your budget, be sure to shop around with different off- and online vendors.

@julies - This sounds like something I need to try. I am not very tall and always seem to struggle with this. I can see how it would be so much easier to work with a hookless bath shower curtain than messing with the hooks. It would also give a very modern look to your bathroom!

It would not be a very expensive change to make and would make things a whole lot easier. They have so many great shower curtains to choose from anymore. The hardest part is trying to decide on just one!

I recently purchased a hookless fabric shower curtain and just love it! I find it so much easier to slide the curtain tabs through the rod than trying to hook each and every one. This makes it much easier to install and remove the curtain when you want to wash it.

If you aren't very tall you don't have to worry about balancing yourself as you try to get each hole poked through the little hook! I will always go with this type of shower curtain from now on!
