Vitamin D3 supplements are fat-soluble nutritional supplements. Vitamin D is critical for the normal function and health of the human body, and vitamin D3 is one of its forms. Since people can get vitamin D3 from the sun and a range of foods, supplementing isn’t always necessary. This vitamin is also important for the development and maintenance of strong bones, as it helps with calcium absorption. Some studies have also uncovered evidence that vitamin D3 may help prevent a range of diseases and conditions. For example, it may help prevent high blood pressure and osteoporosis; some evidence even suggests that the vitamin helps prevent some types of cancer and obesity.

While vitamin D3 supplements can have some very important health benefits for the body, it is possible to take too much of this vitamin. When individuals take too much, effects may include appetite loss, kidney problems, and nausea and vomiting. Even high blood pressure may result from the excessive intake of vitamin D3.

This way, he can discuss the ways he may already get vitamin D3 with his doctor and determine what the right level of supplement intake may be for him.
