There is nothing worse than being on a diet and being hungry and grouchy all the time. If you eat foods that have fiber and protein it will help you feel full and consume less calories then if you eat a of carbohydrates and high sugar foods.

If I just start thinking about going on a diet, I am hungry and want to eat everything in sight. For me it has to be more of a lifestyle change, and I found the best way to do this is with portion control.

When we eat at home, I will use a much smaller plate than I used to. My plate will be full, but because it is smaller, I am eating less, but don't feel deprived. I also try to eat a healthy balanced diet with a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables. If I can't get them fresh in season, I will use frozen vegetables.

I also read that you retain more nutrition if you cook your vegetables frozen, rather than letting them thaw before cooking, and to use as little water as possible.

I am one of those strange people who usually enjoys exercise. I'm not quite sure if it is the exercise or the endorphins that kick in after a few minutes. It has to be something that I enjoy or I won't do it though. For me this has been one of the best ways to control my weight. I also try to eat healthy diet plans, but don't often eat more than I should.

By exercising on a regular basis, I hope this helps balance out some of the bad food choices I make. Having a dog really does help too. I give her a walk several times a day, and that forces me to get up and get moving.

Keeping a glass of water on my desk helps me in more ways than one. Not only does it help keep me full and hydrated, but helps me stay away from carbonated beverages. A healthy diet will always consist of getting enough water. This is not very easy to do if most of your liquid is coffee and soda.

I try to drink a glass of water first thing in the morning, and as soon as I get to work I have a full glass on my desk. This also gives me a chance to get up from the computer on a regular basis to refill my water glass. I notice when I do this on a regular basis, that I am not as tempted to snack on chips and soda at my desk.
