How do I get a Timeshare Preview?

Getting a timeshare preview isn't as easy as it once was. While many different timeshares used to offer promotional vacation deals, these packages are now rare. Still, there are some ways to find timeshare packages that are worth both your time and money. The first place to begin looking for a timeshare preview is on a hotel website.

Large hotel chains around the globe offer timeshare travel packages. Taking a look at these sites will often lead you directly to a link that will ask you to fill out a form. If you cannot find such a link, or any information pertaining to a timeshare preview, on a website, then take a few moments to call the hotel that you are considering. Ask a customer service representative about timeshare opportunities, and find out how you can visit a timeshare.

Another way to gain a timeshare preview is to conduct an Internet search for a timeshare management company. You will find that many companies of this type exist, though only a couple of them are reputable. To find out if the company that you are considering is reputable, scour the Internet for reviews and ratings. Also, contact the company and ask as many questions as you need to.

Before you jump at the chance for a free vacation, make sure you know what you are getting into. Ask a hotel representative about the fine print included in your timeshare preview deal. If you plan on traveling to a timeshare destination as a married couple, be aware that both of you will have to attend a two to three hour sales meeting.

In addition, a deposit may be required of you upon arrival. If you do not attend the timeshare meeting, then this deposit will usually not be returned to you. It's also a good idea to contact your local Better Business Bureau in order to verify that the timeshare company you will be dealing with is in good financial standing.

Keep in mind that most timeshare vacations are not completely free. You may be offered free airfare, but you may then be faced with a high lodging cost. Alternately, you may be granted free lodging, but you may also be required to pay additional fees. These vacations are worth your while only if you are truly looking to buy a timeshare. In any case, make sure to read the fine print before you pack your bags.
