How do I Choose the Best Two-Person Hot Tub?

Like other types of hot tubs, choosing a two-person hot tub will depend largely on your budget, your intended use for the tub, and the regularity with which the tub will be used. Materials are also important, as some tubs are made from wood, while others are made from acrylic; each style has its own set of pros and cons, and your choice will depend on where the tub will be placed, how much maintenance you are willing to do, and what kind of two-person hot tub experience you are hoping to have. Start by deciding on a budget, both for the initial cost and for monthly costs.

One of the most convenient features about a two-person hot tub is its size. Many people choose to buy such tubs because they fit conveniently in smaller spaces, both inside and outside. Be sure to measure the area in which you plan to place the tub, as this may narrow down your choices. Once you have determined where the tub will go, decide how you intend to heat the tub. Many tubs run off an electric heater and jet motor, while others are wood-fired or even propane-fired. Wood-fired stoves are less expensive to run, but they are also less convenient than electric tubs, as the water temperature can easily be regulated with electric tubs.

Acrylic two-person hot tub models are by far more common, but wood tubs offer certain features an acrylic tub does not. Wood tubs are often made out of cedar, which is a mold and mildew-resistant wood. It is also fragrant and beautiful, adding aesthetic appeal to the tub. More people can fit into the same amount of space in a wooden tub, and for a two person tub, the users will have more room to stretch out. Bench options are limited, however, and an acrylic tub may have molded, ergonomic seats, whereas a wooden tub only features straight benches.

When shopping for a two-person hot tub, be sure to sit in the dry tub to find out where the jets are placed. Make sure they are placed in areas that will massage your body effectively, and make sure the molded seats themselves are comfortable. Remember that molded seats only offer a few sitting positions, so if any of those positions feel uncomfortable to you, they will still feel uncomfortable years down the road, detracting from your hot tub experience.
