When choosing a round cake pan, consider the recipes you most commonly use. Choose a size that accommodates your most frequently used recipes. Other things to consider are the depth of the pan and the material from which it is made. For example, bunt cakes will typically call for a deep, round cake pan, whereas a single-layer cake may require a flat pan. Consider something that is non-stick if you prefer quick and easy clean-ups.

Some round cake pans are sold only in sets, and you may not find a use for the other pieces. Rather than shop at a specialty store that sells kitchen gadgets, you might want to shop at a discount department store where you may save money. In addition, consider looking online where you may be able to get a real bargain.

If you want an alternative to Teflon® coated cake pans, consider buying a pan made of silicone. This material offers flexibility and non-stick convenience. Also, most silicone cake pans do not require greasing. This could also save you money in the long run. In addition, silicone bakeware can save you time, as this material heats up relatively fast.

A round cake pan made of glass is practical because of its durability. Glass is also easy to clean and sanitize. Most glass cake pans are also dishwasher safe, making it an ideal choice for busy lifestyles. If you choose a glass cake pan, keep in mind you may have to adjust temperature settings for some recipes.

When shopping for a round cake pan, several factors that could influence your decision, other than cost, size, or material. Perhaps you'd prefer a color to coordinate with your kitchen decor. Metal or aluminum pans are not made in bright, bold colors. Silicone pans however, are typically available in several bright colors. Whatever material you choose, read the instruction label to determine the maximum temperature the pan can withstand.

Do not assume all glass products are microwave safe. Some products may be suitable only for microwave reheating. The packaging should state the pan is microwave safe for baking on any temperature setting.

Lastly, consider durability when choosing a round cake pan. As a rule, you should avoid buying a flimsy or poorly made pan that may bend or warp over time. You're not getting a bargain if your cake pan needs to be replaced after a few uses.
