How Do I Choose the Best Fox Fur Coat?

There are a number of considerations when shopping for a fox fur coat, among them price and fit. Perhaps the biggest consideration is coat style. Knowing what style of fox fur coat will look and feel the best will most likely take some shopping around. Many of the available styles can be viewed online, but even with a good idea of the type of coat you want, it's essential to visit a shop or professional furrier to get a proper fit.

Men's and women's fur coats each come in different lengths. One's choices range from a full coat, to a semi-full stroller, to a short jacket. Lighter options include vests, wraps, and shawls. Different lining choices can be chosen from, and a fox fur coat may be open or have closing fasteners like buttons, buckles, or zippers.

A genuine fox fur coat is much more expensive than a faux fox fur coat, but each has it's own unique advantages. Both are warm and can have a similar fashion style, but genuine fur is reputed to be softer and more durable. Faux fur, on the other hand, is a popular choice for those on a tighter budget, or for people with moral objections to genuine fur.

Both a faux fur coat and a genuine fox fur coat come in many colors that generally fall into the red, brown, black, white, and gray families. Trying on or wearing a fox fur coat in person might be the only effective way to choose the best fur type and color. Additionally, a fur may need to be fitted, so spending some time in a shop might be a necessary step.

Fur coat fashions change with the seasons. Examples of styles include ribbed and chevron patterns, scalloped hems, and various types of trim. Sleeves and collars come in different shapes and cuts, and some fur coats include pockets or a hood. Fur stoles, muffs, hats, and handbags are all popular accessories. How one chooses to mix and match accessories is a question of budget and personal style.

Whether one chooses genuine fox fur or faux fur, caring for a fox fur coat is another thing to think about when choosing a coat. Some coats require more care than others, so it helps to know what will be required before you buy. Fur coats can last a lifetime if cared for properly. They are so durable, in fact, that some merchants will sell used fur coats. These coats are worth investigating because their condition can be like new, but sold at a fraction of the cost.

A friend of mine has decided to buy a fur coat for the first time. She wants to get a good fur coat at a discount price. The coats can be so expensive when you buy them from the top dealers. There are many places in the city where you can get good coats for a good price, but you have to know what you are buying or you might get taken advantage of.

Some of the people selling the coats will tell you a coat is made of real fur when it is not. One of the best ways to tell the difference is to look at the labels, but even some of these have been changed. If you are going to purchase a fox fur coat, you really need to do your research, so you will know what you are buying. Otherwise you are at the mercy of the dealer, which is not always a good position to be in.

I'm not an expert on fox fur or any type of fur for that matter, but I have seen and felt both actual animal fur and the man-made stuff. Without question, I was able to tell the difference between the two.

This was some time ago, so maybe today's artificial fur is much better than what I saw years ago, but I have not seen an imitation fur coat that I would confuse for the real thing. Real fur feels soft and smooth to the touch. The fake fur is rough, scratchy and in some cases sticky.

I was at a party the other week and one of the guests there was telling about how you don't always get what you pay for when you buy a real fur coat. Traditionally, I guess most people wanted real fur, and people who wanted fur but could not afford the cost of real fur would purchase the faux fur coats.

Well, because so many more people are against killing animals for fur now, fur coats are not as popular as they once were. According to the guy at the party, there are some companies or stores that are selling real fur coats and saying they are fake fur so they can sell the coats.
