In order to become an insurance executive recruiter, it is typically best to have experience in the insurance industry. If you do not have experience in the insurance industry, it may be wise to have experience in the executive recruiting industry. While experience is not required, it is typically helpful to become an insurance executive recruiter and achieve success much faster with experience.

When changing from your current career to that of an insurance executive recruiter, you have three different options. You can be an employee of an executive recruiting firm where you are the insurance specialist. You can work for an executive recruitment firm that specializes only in insurance professionals. Finally, to become an insurance executive recruiter, you can open your own business.

Generally, firms that hire executive recruiters prefer to hire individuals that have at least an undergraduate degree. The degree may be in business, psychology or a business degree with a concentration in insurance. Some executive recruiting firms will allow you to become an insurance executive recruiter without a degree, but with insurance in place of the degree.

Some insurance companies hire internal employees to act as a recruiter for their firm.

Because an insurance executive recruiter typically works on a commission basis, it is best to have experience either in the insurance or the recruiting industry. This way, you only have to learn one of the industries rather than both. Some firms, however, will hire you without any experience, so that they can train you to do the work according to their own system or formula.

If you decide to become an insurance executive recruiter by opening your own business, then it is best that you have already worked as an insurance executive recruiter to achieve greater success. Since you will have to learn how to open and operate your own business, it will be much easier for you to do this if you are not trying to learn how to become an insurance executive recruiter at the same time.

Some insurance companies also hire internal employees to act as a recruiter for their firm. If you want to become an insurance executive recruiter for a particular insurance company, then look at their open job positions and apply. You can also contact their human resources department and speak with one of the recruiters there to see if there are any un-posted positions available. At the very least, you can send your resume to be considered for any future positions that open up.
