Driving jobs require you to spend your working shift operating a motor vehicle such as a taxi, limousine, bus, or truck. If you want to become a part-time driver, you will need to hold a valid driver's license in your state or region, and you may need to earn a commercial driver's license (CDL). It is a good idea to decide what type of driving you want to do so you will know which qualifications you will need to become a part-time driver. You won't need any specific level of education in order to get jobs with some companies, though others may require you to have a high school diploma or equivalent qualification.

You will probably need basic math and communications skills in order to become a part-time driver, but more importantly, you will need to have a good understanding of the layout of your city or town. You will also need to be able to demonstrate driving ability, and it is likely you will need to pass a driving test before you can be hired. This applies even if you only want to become a part-time driver. Some companies may also require you to undergo additional training, such as safety and first aid training, or radio operations training.

Try to be flexible with your scheduling if you want to become a part-time driver, and be prepared to work night shifts. Most companies will look for part-time employees who can fill gaps in daily schedules and work shifts that full-time employees can't or won't work. If you are attending school or working another job, be sure to discuss your schedule carefully with your employer and try to be as flexible as possible to accommodate the needs of the company.

Sometimes you will be required to do heavy lifting or operate other pieces of equipment once you become a part-time driver. Try to maintain a healthy level of physical fitness and be prepared to do some manual labor, especially if you end up driving a delivery truck. You will probably need to be trained in how to use a pallet jack, and in some cases you may need to undergo forklift training, which can be somewhat time-consuming. You may be required to use hand trucks as well as computerized scanning devices, and you may need to keep track of paper invoices and other documents.
